Their relationship ended, then duo Lola Marsh became Israel’s biggest indie band

Tel Aviv artists and ex-couple Gil Landau and Yael Cohen discharge their 2nd record, ‘Someday Tomorrow perhaps,’ amid worldwide acclaim and a significant record deal

JTA — Gil Landau and Yael Cohen, the two core people of Lola Marsh, don’t seem to care much about it — the force of being Israel’s indie band that is biggest, the luggage that is included with being defined as Israeli occupiers in a few of this places they perform, perhaps the stress of collaborating together as ex-boyfriend and gf.

Contacting split phone lines from Tel Aviv, they seem truly relaxed, just as if they simply deposit a book that is thoughtful hours of reading. Landau calls his bandmate Yaeli, a tiny but precious indication of love.

“We would like to handle the enjoyment stuff,” Landau claims. “If some body asks us in regards to the maybe maybe not stuff that is fun we simply you will need to lead the discussion to your enjoyable material.”

Despite the stories that swirl since they met at a party over six years ago around them, the pair have certainly had their share of fun. Cohen had worked as a waitress, Landau as being an electric guitar instructor. Each had played in many different groups — Cohen dabbled in a woman musical organization and an address musical organization, Gil played in a rock that is psychedelic — but nothing actually got them anywhere.

They instantly hit it well, physically and musically, and consented to be intent on the Lola Marsh task from the beginning, conference to publish and rehearse nearly every day. Using inspiration from everything from old Western movie soundtracks to indie that is modern, they crafted an original style that blends people stone, pop music and sweeping orchestral sounds. Cohen’s vocals is normally set alongside the smooth, sultry tone of Lana Del Rey.
